Following the news that over 50 people were killed inside Orlando’s Pulse gay nightclub and at least an additional 53 people were injured, the Tony Awards announced that tonight’s ceremony is dedicated to those affected.
The official Tony Awards account tweeted, “Our hearts are heavy for the unimaginable tragedy that happened last night in Orlando.”

According to multiple news reports, the 29-year-old gunman, who has been identified as Omar Mateen, opened fire around 2 AM, when more than 300 people were inside the club. The gunman was shot by SWAT officers who stormed Pulse around 5 AM.
James Corden hosts the 70th Annual Antoinette Perry Awards ceremony, which will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network from the stage of the Beacon Theatre in New York. The awards honor the best in professional theatre on Broadway.
